Outdoor family time

I didn’t make a class this morning, but at least I made it to the gym. I ended up doing some stretches, mat work and some weights. I went into the gym to do some plyometrics and then did some runs up and down the court. Oh my gosh am I far, far away from the shape I was in during basketball season in high school. Just making quick stops and turns at each line winded me so fast. I can only improve from here!

Tonight we had combined Adelante/Pals Life Skills. We had all of the families meet us at the park for yard games including water balloon toss, corn hole, football, three-legged races, slackline, and kick the can. I love seeing how well all of the children and parents can play together on nights like this. Everyone had a great time.

I learned that one of the families (a single mom and her son) is going to be graduating from the program after next week. I had only recently gotten her son to open up to me—within the last month—and now he is super friendly and excited to see me. I’m going to miss the little guy coming into the office, but I’m proud of the family for all they’ve accomplished while in the program and happy to see them moving forward.
