Nature, beauty and gratitude on the ranch…

This morning I woke up at 7 as usual, but forced myself to sleep in another two hours. It sort of worked…

After doing all the chores around the ranch, I made breakfast and soaked up the sun outside. It was a beautiful, sunny day in the 60s. By about 2 pm the winds picked up and I spent the evening writing a handful of letters. Winds are over 35 mph as I write this. Happy Spring in the Valley!

Over the last few days I had really felt drained and overcommitted to things.

We care and want to help in all ways that we can. Balancing that is hard. We can’t do it all, so we need to find the best way we can help others, while still taking care of ourselves.

As I mentioned last night in my post, I spoke with a friend on the phone yesterday. She was concerned about spreading myself too thin.

She said, Chloe I just want to remind you of something you already know: Everything you are doing there is great—but that just by your love and presence you are helping anyone you meet. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing.

These conversations and my thoughts the last two days all loop back together.

Even in this TED talk I had watched just the night before, called Nature. Beauty. Gratitude.

It is one of my favorites, and I watch it many times each year and still feel so strongly about the message.

It says, “Open your heart to all these blessings and let them flow through you. Everyone you meet on the street will be blessed by you. Just by your eyes, by your smile, by your touch—just by your presence…”

As long as you are doing the best you can in all that you do, and are mindful of your presence and their presence—of your love and their love…you will heal the lives of many.
