Tonight at a meeting Dores wrote on my notepad, E3. Confused, I looked back at her and she said “That’s what we will call Adelante’s new Employment Center!” E3 will be the Employment, Education and Enterprise Center for our clients.
I spent my day putting together resources for E3. Folders with resources anywhere from cover letters and resume tips, to finance and budget worksheets, GED and college preparation, study and note-taking tips, to healthy relationships and good parenting articles—the list goes on and on as you can see.
If there’s one thing I took away from today it was that non-profits cannot simply rely on government aid and donations. Not only are La Puente’s programs teaching clients how to be self-sufficient, but they themselves are looking to the future and developing creative and innovative ways to be self-sufficient.
It only makes sense to do this, and they do it so well.
Short and sweet tonight, as I need to rest. Tomorrow morning we meet to Skype with the UP board members!
